You can find many “top 10” lists of marketing agencies in Myanmar. They show names. They do not show you how to choose.
This checklist gives you seven things to check. Each one has a question to ask. Use it for any agency, freelancer or consultant. You can use it on me too.
1. Skill
Ask: Which services do you really do for clients in Myanmar? Warning sign: A long list of services, but no details about any of them.
2. Past work
Ask: Can you show me real work for a business like mine? Warning sign: Only pictures, with no goal and no result.
3. Where they work
Ask: Where are you, and how will we talk? Warning sign: A claim of a local office that you cannot check. Working online is fine. Just say it clearly.
4. Price
Ask: What is the monthly price? Is the ad budget separate? Warning sign: No price at all, or a low price with extra costs later.
5. Plan
Ask: What will you do in the first month, and why? Warning sign: The same plan for every client.
6. Talking and reports
Ask: How often will I hear from you? What does a report look like? Warning sign: Reports with only likes and views, but nothing about customers or sales.
7. Reviews
Ask: Can I talk to a client you work with now, or one from the past? Warning sign: Reviews with no names and no details.
A simple score sheet
Give each agency a score from 1 to 5 on the seven points. Add the scores. But look most closely at point 6, talking and reports. It shows if the work stays on track after the first month.
Agency or consultant?
A big agency has a bigger team. A consultant works with you directly. You talk to the same person who does the work. There are fewer people in the middle.
Neither one is best for everyone. Pick the one that fits your budget and how much help you need.
