Many business owners in Myanmar cannot count on a good internet connection. Some apps are hard to open. The connection can drop. Data can cost a lot.

This guide is not about politics. It gives simple steps that keep your marketing going when things change.

## What business owners face

Reports describe a few problems:

- The Internet Society says Facebook and other apps were blocked after 2021. It says a ban on VPNs came next. It also says people find it hard to reach Facebook.
- At the same time, estimates from Meta data show about 13 million Facebook users in Myanmar (NapoleonCat, September 2026).
- Nanoo Marketing (2024) says some places have internet shutdowns, and that data costs more.

These reports do not fully match. That is why you should test things yourself. What works for one business in one town may not work for another.

## Idea 1: Do not use only one app

What if all your customers come from one app, and that app stops working? Your sales can stop too. Be in a few places. Also have at least one place that you own, like a Google Maps listing or a small website.

## Idea 2: Keep everything light

Slow internet makes big files hard to load. So use:

- Small photo files, not big ones.
- Short text posts and clear product photos.
- Short videos only when they really help.

## Idea 3: Make it easy to reply

Many customers like a quick message better than a long form. Pick the chat apps that your customers can really open, like Messenger or Viber. Then answer fast. **\[Only list the apps you have tested with clients.\]**

Use chat apps for people who wrote to you or joined your group. Do not send messages to lots of people who did not ask for them. Myanmar’s Cybersecurity Law No. 1/2025 has penalties for sending messages people did not ask for. This comes from a Tilleke & Gibbins summary. This is not legal advice.

## Idea 4: Build places you control

People can find a Google Business Profile and a simple website through search. This works no matter which social app is open that week. You can also collect customer contacts, with their OK. Then you can reach them yourself.

## Idea 5: Test first, then spend

Before you pay for ads, check that your customers can see them. Run a small test. See who answers. Then spend more.

## A simple weekly plan

1. Check that your listing and page details are still right.
2. Post one or two times with a light, clear photo.
3. Answer every message within one day.
4. Write down which channel brought customers this week.
